Donald Trump is about to have one of the worst days of his presidency – and that’s saying a lot, because most of them have been pretty bad!
Despite the fact that every U.S. intelligence agency has stated that Russia absolutely meddled in the 2016 election to help The Donald, Trump has denied it. Even several top Republicans have stood with our intelligence agencies on this, and yet the President of the United States remains the only one to continuously defend Russia and its leader, Vladimir Putin. But thanks to a new bipartisan report, Trump is going to have a much more difficult time doing that.
The Senate Intelligence Committee has just backed up U.S. intelligence agencies. The report clearly states that the bipartisan committee supports and agrees that “Putin and the Russian Government aspired to help President-elect Trump’s election chances when possible by discrediting Secretary Clinton and publicly contrasting her unfavorably to him.”
This report also states that Russia’s efforts in the 2016 presidential race were definitely done with the goal of helping Trump win the election. The Committee stated that the “overall judgments” that have been made by the U.S. intelligence community have been”well-supported and the tradecraft was strong.” Committee Chairman Richard Burr (R-N.C.) said:
“The Committee has spent the last 16 months reviewing the sources, tradecraft and analytic work underpinning the Intelligence Community Assessment and sees no reason to dispute the conclusions.”
Committee Vice Chairman Mark Warner (D-Va.) also said:
“As numerous intelligence and national security officials in the Trump administration have since unanimously re-affirmed, the ICA findings were accurate and on-point. The Russian effort was extensive and sophisticated, and its goals were to undermine public faith in the democratic process, to hurt Secretary [of State Hillary] Clinton and to help Donald Trump.”
We’d love to watch Trump squirm his way out of this one now. You can read the whole damning report here.
