A series of videos have emerged on social media that perfectly illustrate the plight of man’s best friend in Vietnam. It is extremel difficult to put into words what these gentle creatures are feeling – this is why your support is essential! Dogs are family, not food and we have a long way to go until we achieve our goals in this country.

The first video, which is available on LiveLeak, shows a few traders chasing a dog (their food) up to an alley. In just matter of seconds they catch up and cook the pooch in broad daylight.

The second video shows how a dog has his skin peeled off like a banana while still fully conscious.

There are plenty of other revealing videos and photos available online that document the trade which sees over 5 million dogs fall victims. Snacks made from dog origin can be found basically everywhere – in public markets, in restaurants or on the side of the road, in improvised stalls. Last but not least, dog meat lovers have the possibility of snatching dogs from the street and cooking the snack themselves, in the confort of their own backyard.
Meanwhile, the government has done very little to address this issue. It did impose a ban on imports from Thailand (a major supplier in the trade), but traders have found other methods to meet internal demand.
Please take action and let the Vietnamese government know how displeased you are with this situation and demand an immediate immediate action with regards to this matter. Sign and share the petition and be a voice for the dogs of Vietnam
